There are Fuzzies moving on the lines and cannons shooting Bullet Bills. The first Star Coin is by a set of green bounce bars. Go by some more Bullet Bill cannons and watch for some Munchers. Go around to where a duo of red Koopas are and hit the flip block to reveal a vine. Climb the vine and you’ll find the 2nd Star Coin over the clouds. Where a Fuzzy moves on the hard blocks, go down the indigo pipe and get the 3rd Star Coin in a cave. Return to the main area and you’ll find the 4th Star Coin under a platform wheel. As Bullet Bills start to appear randomly, bounce from the green bounce bars and watch for Munchers in the area. Pass the checkpoint and you’ll find the 5th Star Coin. On Route 7, near a house by the rails, there is a Hidden Grotto. Enter this Hidden Grotto and you might have a rare chance of encountering a special Cubchoo. It ranges between Levels 30-35. It also has the hidden ability, Rattled. With this ability, the user’s Speed stat increases when damaged by Bug, Ghost, or Dark type attacks.

As you explore Route 111, you find a sole house by water home to a family known as the Winstrate Family. The first member of the family is Victor. Victor uses Taillow with a first striking Quick Attack and a Headbutting Zigzagoon. After you beat him, you’ll take on Victoria, who will use Roselia that stuns opponents using Stun Spore. After that, you’ll take on the youngest member, Vivi, who uses Marill with a Defense Curl-Rollout combo, a Shroomish that uses Leech Seed to steal HP from opponents, and an Oblivious Numel. After you beat her, you’ll battle the eldest member of the family, Vicky, who will use Meditite to Meditate and unleash Hi Jump Kicks. Defeat all 4 members of the Winstrate Family and enter their house for a Macho Brace.

At the start, you’ll encounter boomerang knights, homing drones, land mines, and suction eyes. Descend and you’ll next see boomerangs come from the holes on the walls. As you go along, watch for spikes at some spots. After a dramatic descent, you’ll take on the Yellow Devil. Dodge the fragments that come in and wait for the boss to assemble. When the eye opens, use the Pyro Wave. After hitting it, its fragments will travel to the other side. Defeat this boss and you’ll advance to the next level.

After getting 7 Kanto badges, speak with Blue on Cinnabar Island and he will go to the gym in Viridian City. The gym of Viridian City has arrow tiles that make you spin on them until you reach a stoppage square. Navigate a maze of arrow tiles and you’ll be able to take on the leader. Exeggutor will use Hypnosis to put the target to sleep and Leaf Storm to deal massive damage but sharply lower its own Special Attack stat in the process. Arcanine will use Extremespeed to strike first and Flare Blitz to deal big damage at the cost of its own HP. Rhydon will use Stone Edge that has a high critical hit ratio and Thunder Fang for a 10% chance of paralyzing the target. Gyarados will use Dragon Dance to raise its Attack and Speed stats along with Waterfall for a 20% chance of making the target flinch. Machamp will use Dynamicpunch that will confuse the target if it strikes. Pidgeot will use Air Slash for a 30% chance of making the target flinch and Mirror Move to copy the target’s most recently used move. After the battle, you’ll receive the Earth Badge and a TM92 (Trick Room). Trick Room twists the dimensions for 5 turns, which inverts the speed order of each combatant from slowest to fastest.

When you use the Pokénav Match Call feature, you’ll see Tate and Liza wanting a rematch after you venture freely for a while. Return to the gym at Mossdeep City to battle these 2 leaders again. For the first rematch, Slowpoke is added. In the 2nd rematch, Drowzee is added. In the 3rd rematch, Drowzee has evolved. In the 4th and final rematch, Slowpoke evolves into Slowking.

Humilau City’s gym has big lily pads that move when you go in the direction. If one crashes into another, it will move in that direction. Align the lily pads and ride your way to the gym leader. Marlon uses Water type Pokémon. In Challenge Mode, Carracosta holds a Sitrus Berry and Mantine is added. Wailord will use Rain Dance to power up Water type moves for 5 turns. Mantine will use Confuse Ray to confuse foes and make them flinch using Air Slash. Carracosta will use Shell Smash to trade Defense for Attack and Speed along with Rock Slide to make targets flinch. Jellicent will use Recover when in danger and its Cursed Body ability can disable a target’s move 30% of the time. After the battle, you’ll receive the Wave Badge and a TM55 (Scald). Scald has a 30% chance of burning the target and can even be used while the user is frozen to thaw out.

During your post-game quest, explore the Relic Castle and go through the deeper parts of the ruins. Navigate some rooms and find the room with Volcarona in it. Save your game before you interact. Volcarona is on Level 70. Don’t make contact with it or else you’ll get burned due to its Flame Body ability. Because it’s Bug/Fire type, Net Balls work best. If it reaches Level 100, it will learn its signature move, Fiery Dance. The move has a 50% chance of raising the user’s Special Attack stat.

Saffron City has a Fighting Dojo next door left from the gym where you can battle some Black Belts. After defeating the Black Belts, you’ll take on the Karate Master. Hitmonlee will use Foresight to make Ghost types vulnerable and Hi Jump Kick for big damage but hurts the user if it misses. Hitmonchan will use Sky Uppercut on those who try to use Fly and all 3 elemental punching moves. After the battle, you can choose any of the 2 Poké Balls backstage. One holds Hitmonlee and the other holds Hitmonchan. You can only choose one so pick the one you want best.

Go to Pewter City and talk to an old man. The old man will give you a Silver Wing. With the Silver Wing, go to Route 41 and enter Whirl Islands. As you explore Whirl Islands, go down a large waterfall and enter a deep chamber where Lugia awaits. Save your game before you interact. Lugia is on Level 70. It will combo by using Rain Dance then Hydro Pump. If it runs low on HP, it will use Recover. Use Ultra Balls and moves that induce sleep, like Hypnosis.
