IranWire, an independent online news site, has recently published a shocking report exposing the Islamic Republic's use of child soldiers during the massive protests that have been shaking the country since September 2022. The report provides a comprehensive history of Iran's use and training of child soldiers since the establishment of the Islamic Republic after the Iranian Revolution in 1979. It also highlights the regime's use of children as human shields and riot police in ongoing rallies against the government. Furthermore, Iranian authorities have intentionally put children in harm's way, using them as human shields to accuse demonstrators of violence. IranWire also documented one case of a child soldier being injured after Iranian security forces mistakenly took him for a protester in the recent uprising. The report includes disturbing photos of teenage boys who were trained by Iranian security forces to deal with warfare and urban riots, some dating as far back as 2016. Most of the children were between the ages of 12 to 17 and were seen wearing anti-riot gear and holding assault rifles. This report also revealed that Iran's use of child soldiers to suppress civilian protests has intensified over the past few months since the beginning of the Mahsa Amini revolution. Al-Qaeda, the notorious Islamist terrorist organization, has publicly called for revenge attacks on Sweden and Denmark in response to recent Quran-burning protests in those countries. Released through its media channel, the As-Sahab Media Foundation, a three-page statement entitled "A Statement Regarding the Assaults on the Quran and Duty of Fighting the Aggressors" on August 13th called on Muslims globally to conduct violent acts, including killing those responsible for the Quran burnings and targeting Swedish and Danish embassies, monarchs, and diplomats. The statement goes on to belittle the two countries, asserting, "Denmark and Sweden are two small, despicable countries that amount to no more than two small spots on the world map. People of Islam in Sweden, Denmark, and all of Europe, the duty of revenge is placed upon you." This call to arms has heightened concern among intelligence agencies and experts, with some warning of potential risks to diplomats and embassy staff in the Middle East. Others, however, such as Swedish terrorism researcher Hans Brun, downplay the threats, attributing them to Al-Qaeda's weakened state and viewing them as a generic call for lone-actor violence rather than an organized, impending attack. ?
