Praising God as King | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
Date: Oct 25, 2022
Text: Psalm 47:1-9
Often we only think about worship on Sundays. We fail to see the necessity of praising God at all times and in all situations. We must learn to acknowledge Him as our King, not just on weekends but each and every day of our lives. In other words, we must learn to praise Him as our King regardless of our situation.

When should we praise God as King?
Three Situations
1. When we are facing powerful obstacles (vv.1-4)
2. When we are hearing negative opinions (vv.5-7)
3. When we are encountering strong opposition (vv.8-9)
Central Idea: “Praise God as King regardless of our situation.” (“Purihin ang Diyos bilang Hari anuman ang ating sitwasyon.”)

God is always at work in our lives to transform us into the image of Christ. He uses various instruments. We must pay attention to this work and cooperate with Him by faith. We must yield to His word of grace, even if it is painful. Spiritual transformation is often confrontational, and we must be ready for that.

Spiritual revival is exciting! We want to experience more of it. But will it last without moral purity? No, it cannot last unless the church recovers its calling to live godly lives by the power of the Holy Spirit. This is a challenging task, especially in today’s society. The pressure to conform to the world’s standards is an ever-present temptation. No one is immune to the daily challenge of living pure lives for God’s glory. How can we, as a church, overcome this? How can we live in purity amidst so much depravity?

Good morning, everyone! The title of Day 2 of RLCC Daily Devo is: "The Temptation to Doubt God's Power"
Our Scripture passage is: Genesis 17:1-18:15
Meditation: Despite God proving Himself faithful to Abram, he and his wife struggled to believe that God had the power to fulfill His promise. Both of them laughed. However, God reprimanded them for their lack of faith and made a covenant to fulfill His promise. In the same way, we may be tempted to doubt God’s power and be tempted to deviate from our mission. Thankfully, nothing is too hard for the Lord.
Personal Application: Reflect on times when doubt crept into your faith, just as it did for Abram and Sarai. Choose to believe that nothing is too hard for the Lord, even in challenging circumstances. Reaffirm your faith in God's limitless power.
Prayer: Lord, forgive moments of doubt when I questioned Your power. Strengthen my faith to believe that nothing is impossible for You, even in the face of challenges. May I trust in Your boundless capabilities and remain steadfast in Your mission. In Jesus' name, amen.

Our Sin Situation | Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
(Romans 1:18-32)
We all need salvation. But not all of us understand why we need it. We assume the Gospel is good news, but we can't appreciate the good news unless we first hear and understand the bad news first. Once we understand the bad news of our sin situation, we will surely cry out to God for His help for our salvation.

Salvation is for Everyone | Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
23 The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone, 24 but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness — for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. 25 He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. (Romans 4:23-25)
Salvation is available for all, regardless of who they are. All is needed is faith. But this faith must have a certain quality to it and also a specific content. It is not enough for people to simply say that they have faith. In what way do they believe? Many people claim that they believe but are not saved. In addition, what exactly do they believe in? Many people believe that God exists but remains separated from God. We must understand how salvation is made available for all.

Encouraging one another in the body of Christ is important. The Bible teaches us that we need to give and receive encouragement often. Encouragement is necessary for our walk of faith and helps us to persevere through difficult times. Let us learn this principle today.

1 Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath. 2 Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am faint; heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony. 3 My soul is in deep anguish. How long, Lord, how long? 4 Turn, Lord, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love. 5 Among the dead no one proclaims your name. Who praises you from the grave? 6 I am worn out from my groaning. All night long I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears. 7 My eyes grow weak with sorrow; they fail because of all my foes. 8 Away from me, all you who do evil, for the Lord has heard my weeping. 9 The Lord has heard my cry for mercy; the Lord accepts my prayer. 10 All my enemies will be overwhelmed with shame and anguish; they will turn back and suddenly be put to shame. (Psalm 6:1-10)
When we're healthy, we don't worry about our lives. We assume that everything will be okay. But when we become sick, severely sick, we suddenly realize that we are vulnerable. We realize that the future is no longer guaranteed. Most of all, we come face to face with the possibility of death. I call this the sorrow of severe sickness. Those who have not experienced it do not understand it. Thus, it is possible to treat it lightly and even to say things to the sufferer that may not really help. We need to know how we or others can face the sorrow of severe sickness.

Main Idea: “Going through severe sickness is never an easy process.” (“Ang magkasakit nang malubha ay kailanman hindi madaling proseso.”)
How do we or others face the sorrow of severe sickness?
Three Difficult Stages
1. Acknowledging one's feelings before the Lord (vv.1-3).
2. Appealing to the Lord's unfailing love (vv.4-7).
3. Anticipating the Lord's answer with hope (vv.8-10).
