Imam Al-Baqir (pbuh) said: “If the Sea of Najaf dries up and a hundred years have passed after that, then wait for a man. It was said, ‘And who is he, Oh son of the Messenger of Allah?’ He said ‘Meem and Ha and Meem and Dal’ (Arabic letters MHMD)”, meaning Muhammad ibn Al-Hassan Al-Askari (pbuh).
The sea of Najaf started to dry in the year 1887, and the dryness was completed in the year 1915. A hundred years after 1915 is 2015, which is the year that Imam Mahdi (pbuh) appeared, on January 23rd, fulfilling another prophecy from Prophet Muhammad (pbuhahf) where he said:
The Messenger of Allah (pbuhahf) said: “Hijaz will be ruled by a man whose name is the name of an animal, if you see him from far, you would think he’s crossed-eyed, and if you come close to him, you do not see anything (wrong) in his eyes. He will be succeeded by a brother of his, named Abdullah. Woe to our Shia (followers) from him!” – He repeated it three times – “Give me the glad tidings of his death and I give you the glad tidings of the appearance of the Hujjah (Imam Mahdi).”

قال الامام الباقر عليه السلام : “اذا جف بحر النجف ومضى عليه مائة سنة فأرتقبوا رجلاً
قيل : ومن هو ؟ يا بن رسول الله. قال : ميم وحاء وميم ودال”، يعني بذلك الامام محمد بن الحسن العسكري (ع)
بدأ بحر النجف بالجفاف عام ١٨٨٧، واكتمل الجفاف عام ١٩١٥. بعد مائة عام من عام ١٩١٥ هو عام ٢٠١٥، وهو العام الذي ظهر فيه الإمام المهدي (ع) في الـ ٢٣ من يناير. محققًا نبوءة أخرى لنبي الله محمد (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) حيث قال
“يحكم الحجاز رجل اسمه اسم حيوان، إذا رأيته حسبت في عينه الحول من البعيد، وإذا اقتربت منه لاترى في عينه شيئاً، يخلفه أخ له اسمه عبدالله. ويل لشيعتنا منه، أعادها ثلاثاً؛ بشروني بموته أبشركم بظهور الحُجة (أي الإمام المهدي ع).”
