Manduca quinquemaculata, the five-spotted hawkmoth, is a brown and gray hawk moth of the family Sphingidae. The caterpillar, often referred to as the tomato hornworm, can be a major pest in gardens; they get their name from a dark projection on their posterior end and their use of tomatoes as host plants. Tomato hornworms are closely related to (and sometimes confused with) the tobacco hornworm Manduca sexta. This confusion arises because caterpillars of both species have similar morphologies and feed on the foliage of various plants from the family Solanaceae, so either species can be found on tobacco or tomato leaves. Because of this, the plant on which the caterpillar is found does not indicate its species.

Little bit of a better tour of the new 8 passenger super high speed lift with heated seats. It's nice having cool places like this to explore all night working up on the mountain.

Personal Archive vid of my little stray buddy. He's been missing for 6 days now and I'm starting to get pretty disheartened. I've been taking care of him for over a year and it wasn't until the last few months he really took a shine to me and started coming inside.

They're here on invitation. Wasps and bees of every stripe and species have been spending their summer making mad dashes from my bedroom to their's. A mountain of sugar, saturated in mountain dew. Bees and wasps alike cherish plants that produce caffeine in their nectar, so this windfall of good fortune must seem like paradise. Species that typically can't even feed in peace, (honeybees/baldface wasps) completely ignore each other here and feed side by side without hostility. There was a period in the beginning when they would fight, but once they realized this was a infinitely refilling resource, all that changed. I don't get stung despite being surrounded by literally 1000+ stinging insects while asleep in bed. When I wake up there are wasps and bees enjoying the sun on my pillows and blankets, but I truly have not been stung in bed. Not that it would bother me much anyways, but still. It's pretty incredible. I've learned that both bees and wasps have facial recognition capacities for human faces as they do flowers, and I've been recognized by a great number of wasps and bees as a good source at this point, which apparently comes with a bit of extra respect. It's been quite the educational experience. I'd be happy to answer any of your questions in great detail.
