Is Sweden targeting Muslim children for abduction? The short answer? Almost certainly not. The long answer? Sweden’s child protective services remove thousands of kids from homes where they deem their welfare to be unstable for any number of often subjective reasons, and yes, there are Muslim children amongst these thousands. The same holds true of the UK, where there are some 70,000 kids in foster homes; and the same goes for the US, where there are over 400,000. In Sweden, there are Muslim immigrant families who provide foster care to non-Muslim kids whom Social Services have removed from their homes…there is simply no reason to believe that Muslims are being targeted. Unless specific cases can be cited in which a Muslim child has been removed from his or her home on the basis of their family’s religious beliefs and practices, this is an irresponsible and alarmist claim to make; and it only serves the interests of the Far Right, anti-Muslim, anti-immigration opposition parties in Sweden.
