This is a nice gentle ballad. I am trying to put music to as many of the recently-found cache of 1995-1997 lyrics as possible, and this is from there. There's almost a 'mini-cache' of 'Anita' songs in there - at least 3 have surfaced so far. It might be worth noting that I am not necessarily the 'I' in the songs. As Rimbaud said so apositely, "'I' is another." Looking at the lyric here, and staring at the 3 remaining pieces of the 500 piece jigsaw of my memory, I wonder if possibly this is about the lady in question leaving where I knew her from (we both worked for a lousy company, in different departments; I was looked at like garbage by my 'betters', which suited me fine - playing dumber than people you're smarter than makes for a very easy life). Anyway, this lady was a jewel in a trough, with a heart as unbigoted as a baby's smile. You can't help but write songs for people like that, even if you only know them through a window. The camera sheet says this is Take 3, but there is no Take 1 or 2 on the disc in question. I hope they surface, if nothing else, it was only 2 days ago and I would hate to think that even my wavering mind can't have blanked something that recent out.
