Killers of the Flower Moon is a 2023 American epic revisionist Western crime drama film directed and produced by Martin Scorsese, who co-wrote the screenplay with Eric Roth, based on the 2017 book of the same name by David Grann. Its plot centers on a series of Oklahoma murders in the Osage Nation during the 1920s, committed after oil was discovered on tribal land. Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, and Lily Gladstone lead an ensemble cast that includes Jesse Plemons, Tantoo Cardinal, John Lithgow, and Brendan Fraser. It is the sixth feature film collaboration between Scorsese and DiCaprio and the tenth between Scorsese and De Niro, and the eleventh and final collaboration between Scorsese and his musical partner, Robbie Robertson, who died two months before the film's release; the film is dedicated to Robertson.
Development began in March 2016 when Imperative Entertainment won the film adaptation rights to the book. Scorsese and DiCaprio were attached to the film in 2017, with production initially expected to begin in early 2018. Following several pushbacks and delays in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, production was scheduled to commence in February 2021 with Apple TV+ confirmed to finance and distribute the film alongside Paramount Pictures. Principal photography ultimately took place in Osage County and Washington County between the spring and fall of 2021. The film is produced by Scorsese's Sikelia Productions and DiCaprio's Appian Way Productions with its $200 million budget reportedly the largest amount ever spent on a film shot in Oklahoma.
Killers of the Flower Moon premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival on May 20, 2023, and was released in the United States on October 20, 2023 by Apple TV+, under their Apple Original Films label, and by Paramount Pictures, and was screened in IMAX. and is set for an unspecified streaming release on Apple TV+. The film received praise from critics for its direction, performances, and production value but received negative comments due to the overly long run time

Sanshiro Sugata (Japanese: 姿三四郎, Hepburn: Sugata Sanshirō, aka Judo Saga) is a 1943 Japanese action drama film and the directorial debut of the Japanese film director Akira Kurosawa. First released in Japan on 25 March 1943 by Toho film studios, the film was eventually released in the United States on 28 April 1974. The film is based on the novel of the same name written by Tsuneo Tomita, the son of prominent judoka Tsunejirō Tomita. It follows the story of Sanshiro, a talented though willful youth, who travels to the city in order to learn Jujutsu. However, upon his arrival he discovers a new form of self-defence: Judo. The main character is based on Saigō Shirō.
The film is seen as an early example of Kurosawa's immediate grasp of the film-making process, and includes many of his directorial trademarks, such as the use of wipes, weather patterns as reflections of character moods, and abruptly changing camera speeds. The film itself was quite influential at the time, and has been remade on no fewer than five occasions. It spawned a sequel, Sanshiro Sugata Part II, which was released in 1945 and also directed by Kurosawa.

Continuing my series of reviews while I'm here at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival, here's a brief recap of the eventful day I had, alongside with my review of the much anticipated, Beautiful Boy!
Beautiful Boy is a 2018 American biographical drama film directed by Felix Van Groeningen from a screenplay written by Luke Davies and Van Groeningen. It is based on the memoirs Beautiful Boy: A Father's Journey Through His Son's Addiction by David Sheff and Tweak: Growing Up on Methamphetamines by Nic Sheff. It stars Steve Carell, Timothée Chalamet, Maura Tierney and Amy Ryan. The film is Van Groeningen's English-language debut.

Spike Jonze serves as an executive producer. In the film, a man interviews five unborn souls to determine which one can be given life on Earth.
The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 27, 2020, and was theatrically released by Sony Pictures Classics in the United States on July 30, 2021.

Rashomon (羅生門, Rashōmon) is a 1950 Jidaigeki psychological thriller/crime film directed by Akira Kurosawa, working in close collaboration with cinematographer Kazuo Miyagawa. It stars Toshiro Mifune, Machiko Kyō, Masayuki Mori, and Takashi Shimura. The plot of the story and characters are based upon Akutagawa Ryunosuke's Rashomon story, every element is largely identical, from the murdered samurai speaking through a Shinto psychic, the bandit in the forest, the monk, the rape of the wife and the dishonest retelling of the events in which everyone shows their ideal self by lying. The story takes place in the 8th century at Rashomon, the South gate to Heian Kyo (modern Kyoto).
The film is known for a plot device that involves various characters providing subjective, alternative, self-serving, and contradictory versions of the same incident. Rashomon was the first Japanese film to receive a significant international reception; it won several awards, including the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 1951, and an Academy Honorary Award at the 24th Academy Awards in 1952, and is considered one of the greatest films ever made. The Rashomon effect is named after the film.

S. Eliot. The film is directed by Tom Hooper, in his second feature musical following Les Misérables (2012), from a screenplay by Lee Hall and Hooper. The film features an ensemble cast, including James Corden, Judi Dench, Jason Derulo, Idris Elba, Jennifer Hudson, Ian McKellen, Taylor Swift, Rebel Wilson, and Francesca Hayward.
Cats was theatrically released in the United Kingdom and the United States on 20 December 2019, by Universal Pictures, to a negative response from critics, who criticized the visual effects and editing. Lately, movies have been so disappointing to the extent where I can't even sit at my computer to write down notes for them-let alone stumble on my words in front of the camera to review them. Whether's it's because of the cynical tone, constant reminders of real-life circumstances I go to the movies to try and escape from or entire scenes that are identity politics-based lectures that alienate half the audience while also being equally/if not more important than story & characterization!
So in an effort to better voice my frustrations with the state of entertainment, be more creative in making reviews as if they were short films and come up with my own Youtube persona, from now on I'll be reviewing movies as if they were therapy sessions, for now calling them "Therapeutic Reviews"!

The Three Caballeros is a 1944 American live-action animated musical package film produced by Walt Disney and released by RKO Radio Pictures. The film premiered in Mexico City on December 21, 1944. It was released in the United States on February 3, 1945 and in the UK that March. The seventh Disney animated feature film, the film plots an adventure through parts of Latin America, combining live-action and animation. This is the second of the six package films released by Walt Disney Productions in the 1940s, following Saludos Amigos (1942). It was also the first feature-length film to incorporate traditional animation with live-action actors.
The film is plotted as a series of self-contained segments, strung together by the device of Donald Duck opening birthday gifts from his Latin American friends. Several Latin American stars of the period appear, including singers Aurora Miranda (sister of Carmen Miranda) and Dora Luz, as well as singer and dancer Carmen Molina.
The film was produced as part of the studio's good will message for Latin America. The film stars Donald Duck, who in the course of the film is joined by old friend José Carioca, the cigar-smoking parrot from Saludos Amigos, who represents Brazil, and later becomes friends with a pistol-packing rooster named Panchito Pistoles, who represents Mexico.
