Eight Acres Hotel: Home Office reveals contract to house asylum seekers is to end. Home Office bosses have revealed the Eight Acres Hotel in Elgin will stop being used to house asylum seekers. The hotel on Morriston Road was closed to the public when the first refugees arrived in May last year. It caused significant upset in the community with almost all staff made redundant, customers facing cancelled bookings and gym users chasing membership refunds.
