In the Garden of Eden, the Serpent told the truth and lied to Eve. He told her that she would "be like the Gods". That was true. She would receive the "law", or commandments, and that could bring her to God. But he lied about death because she WOULD die, both physically and spiritually as she entered MORTality. And he would in fact be doing everything he could to make that happen.
An observation on the state of LDS Scholarship and Mormon Studies- They are like the allegory of Zenos. Wild branches are brought into the vineyard to bring life to the olive trees. But they can take over the trees and not bear good fruit. It is a game of balance. We see excellent LDS scholarship right now, but the wild branches are evident and growing stronger. Critical Theory and Post-Modern approaches to the gospel and scripture are growing stronger

If Jesus spoke of our time, would he have spoken of the ideologies and philosophies such as wokeness and victimhood in our day? Those things that contradict the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
The Parables of the Ten Virgins, the Talents, and the Sheep and Goats from Matthew 25 are better understood by including the preceding chapter, Matthew 24. Matthew 24 is the chapter used for Joseph Smith - Matthew in the Pearl of Great Price. It is about the last days. Several phrases and ideas in chapter 24 carry over to the three parables. And if we look closely, these three parables are woven together and give each other meaning.

A pendulum swing has occurred in Latter-day Saint culture. We have moved from high-demand, high expectations in the pursuit of the gospel to "healing" and focusing on crisis, anxiety, and consolation. What is the message of the Gospel and the purpose of the Atonement? Is there an ideal beyond Spiritual Survival and a perpetual cycle of "woundedness?" Is our culture moving more toward a "Therapy Gospel?" We are told, "Man shall not live by bread alone."
There is an ideal that the Plan of Salvation affords us. It is attainable, and it is worth it. It goes far beyond Spiritual Survival and being healed. It is the opportunity that God has given us to become like Him, to inherit all that He has, and to fulfill the measure of our creation.
My point in this video could be summed up with the question, "For what purpose are we healed?"
