Artists Can Now Fight Back Against AI with Nightshade
Artists have been mostly defenseless when it comes to having their work used by AI tools like Dall-E, Stable Diffusion or Midjourney. There are some outstanding lawsuits, companies like Steam have forbidden AI generated assets and there efforts to implement standards to prevent crawlers from indexing art. Now though, there are tools for Artists to actually fight back. The University of Chicago team that created Glaze, a tool for preventing art from being trained on, has now created Nightshade, a tool that actually ruins AI datasets if trained on.
There are a collection of deals of relevance to game developers right now, so I decided to bring them all together into a single video.
We have a Unity Asset Store sale on models and environments 30% off, as well as a first time code for 10% off your purchase. Then we have the Steam Lunar New Year sale, and finally a pair of somewhat relevant but also off topic Humble Bundles.

The "Completely Random Look" is basically just I discovered and found interesting from a game developer persepctive and decided to share. I dont pretend to be a master, so you certainly cant consider it a tutorial and I havent used it long enough to discover if it's truly great or awful. Today I am looking at 123D Design and at least inititally, ITS AWESOME.
123D is a CSG modeller from Autodesk, meaning you model using solid shapes instead of polygons. What it also is, completely by accident, is an amazingly useful modeller for game developers creating non-organic models and possibly an incredibly useful level editing tool. Keep in mind however you will still need a product like Max, Maya or Blender to texture your models and it doesn't do organics ( like people ) very well.
Anyways... check it out. Oh yeah... and it's available free for non-commercial use, or just 10$ a month for commercial with a huge database of models available. Bargain of the century here... http://www.123dapp.com/

GDevelop has just released a new mobile version of their free and open source game engine, but put simply, I think it's the best game engine for developing games away from a computer.
You will probably want to have a cloud subscription to take the most advantage of it, but thankfully you can get one extremely cheap on Fanatical right now, link below! If you've ever wanted to do game development on your mobile phone or tablet, GDevelop might be the perfect choice.

With the recent release of Unreal Engine 5.1, you can finally run UE5 on Apple Silicon. Unfortunately to do so you have to build it from source code which is a pain and takes up a ton of space. No worries though, for I've done it for you! I also compared running on a 2021 M1 MacBook Pro Ultra 24 GPU laptop to a 2022 Zephyrus G16 with a 12 Gen Intel CPU and a 3070TI.

Since taking over GitHub, Microsoft have been making more and more of GitHub free, including now Teams. There are no longer limits on how many people can contribute to a private repository. While they were at it, they also reduced prices on other GitHub plans by a fair margin!

Interested in C# support in Godot 3.0 but dont want to build it yourself? Well great news, Godot 3.0 Alpha 2 binaries are now available.
You can download them and learn more here:

Last week Humble released the Filmmakers Bundle and the star of the bundle is HitFilm Pro 14. I said during that video that I was going to check out HitFilm pro and give you my recommendation... and here it is.
In just a brief time with HitFilm, it quickly became on of my favorite pieces of software. If you need to do any video editing or compositing, this Humble bundle is an absolute must buy!
