Poole Truck Lines had a good long run in trucking starting after World War II. It also followed a pattern that so many other companies in the trucking world did in the era of heavy regulations.

Walter Poole left the Merchant Marines at the end of World War II like so many other men. When he returned to his hometown of Castleberry Alabama, he had the intention of starting a transportation company. A common theme for men coming home after the war to build their future and keep their independence.
Starting with one used tractor Poole formed a friendship with an Evergreen Alabama cotton broker by the name of Bob Kendall. One thing led to another and in 1946 Walter formed Poole Truck Line. Back then contracts were “signed” with a simple handshake. Bob Kendall and Walter Poole sealed their contract with a handshake putting Poole in the business of hauling cotton. With this handshake Walter hauled cotton from Evergreen Alabama to Opelika for several years establishing Poole Truck Lines commitment to customer service.
Other demands were on Poole. So, he added another driver and another and another as the trucking business grew. It seems to me that almost all the truck lines that were owned by the originator remained somewhat profitable. Even those that survived deregulation. But once the kids took over or the company was sold to private equity firms down they fell.
For 38 years, Walter Poole ran his company in an efficient and profitable manner with great customer loyalty.
During his run Poole built his truck line from one used tractor to 800 tractors and 1500 trailers with annual revenue of 75 million.

It’s snowing outside so I thought I’d take a break at the Broken Wheel Truck Stop and reminisce about an old GMC truck that was super common on State and County Highway Departments back in the day. It’s a 1946 2-Ton Dump Truck with a Baker V-Plow mounted on the front. Kind of fitting for the snowy day we are having.
Fred Ertl the 3rd made several different versions of the ’41 to ’46 GMC truck in 1:16th scale including a flatbed, a grain box, a stake bed, a tow truck, a firetruck and a dump truck. However, DCP only released 1 version of the GMC with a snowplow. Now to lower his tooling costs and expand his reach, Fred also made the Chevrolet counterpart to the GMC in all the previously mentioned versions. And just like the GMC, there was only 1 Chevrolet version with the Baker V-Plow. Making both of these very rare and hard to find today.
DCP scrapped the entire 1:16th scale line of trucks in the teens due to problems with quality control at the factory in China. The last release was a Chevrolet C-65 and GMC 6000 medium duty flatbed trucks. Such a shame as these were great trucks for us farm toy collectors.

It’s springtime and that means PLANTING SEASON is just around the corner.
But I’m not talking about planting today. Instead, I’m talking about a grain trailer.
Yes, harvest is over, but hauling in beans and corn continues long after harvest season comes to an end. Most large acreage grain farmers store their crops onsite in their own grain storage bins. Which is very convenient for hauling the grain from the field to the storage bin. However, it then requires the farmer to haul the beans or corn at a later date to the elevator for shipment on to the mill to be processed into something yummy for us to eat. Usually this is done throughout the late winter and spring of the following year. Hopefully all is shipped out before the next fall harvest season begins or the farmer might just have a small storage problem. This hauling grain off the farm grain bin site to the elevators is where the grain trailer comes back into play.

Hey 64th gear jammers, this is Logan and today I’ve got the truck we have all be waiting for forever.
It’s Cement mixer truck in 1:64th scale! Greenlight has really done an awesome job on this model.
It is a 2019 Mack Granite tandem axle rear unload concrete mixer. This model has chrome mirrors, wheels, bumper, grille, air horns, visor, and bulldog hood ornament. Tires are soft rubber and the body is diecast metal painted yellow. The mixer barrel is molded in white plastic. This model may not boast all the features of a DCP but it also doesn’t boast the same price as a DCP. The detail really is far above the trucks price point.

Now let’s begin our discussion of the 1978 Ford LTL9000 conventional semi-tractor.
Ford had been producing "Heavy Duty" trucks since 1948.
Ford in 1958, started to market the "Super Duty" line of trucks. The lineup was marketed by various GVW ratings. Truck weight classifications 1-8 were a new concept brought about by the Department of Transportation National Highway Administration.
The first dedicated Class 8 truck produced by Ford, was the L-series range replacing the F-series "Super Duty" and N-series short conventional derived from the F-series.
Produced as both straight trucks and semi tractors, the Ford L-series encompassed a wide range of models through the Class 6-8 GVWR ratings in medium-duty, severe-service, and vocational applications.
The line would become one of the most popular series of trucks Ford ever produced.
With that simplified background we can talk about the LTL Ford 9000 series of trucks.
WELL, what do you know finally a truck manufactured in Kentucky. The L series was produced by Ford in the Kentucky Truck Plant near Louisville, Kentucky. This gave rise to the nickname "Louisville Line" trucks; as part of a 1996 redesign, part of the model line officially took on the Louisville nameplate.
The Ford LTL-9000 is a large commercial truck designed for heavy loading and hauling. The vehicle is part of Ford's L Series of trucks that were first introduced in 1970. This vehicle has served as a platform for a variety of trucks and purposes, including garbage trucks, dump trucks and long-distance haulers.
Ford introduced the LTL-9000 in 1976. The LTL-9000 series trucks were designed as a premium truck for long-haul drivers. The LTL-9000 became a major competitor to the Chevrolet Bison, GMC General, Kenworth W900, Mack Super-L

SpecCast made a 1957 Chevrolet pickup and marketed it with an International Harvester refrigerator. My neighbor had two huge IH deep freezers. At the time I saw them, I was unaware that IH made refrigerators and deep freezers. Afterall IH was a farm equipment and truck manufacturer.
