ARE YOU READY? JESUS GIVES ACTION PLAN--FOR WHEN THE WORLD CRUMBLES
Many people feel alone, exposed, vulnerable, and scared these days. Even believers.
John the Apostle was alone. Many feel so alone, especially in times of disaster and uncertainty.
Jesus comes and explains to John how to survive when your WHOLE WORLD CRUMBLES.
John the apostle was a fisherman from a small seaside town of Galilee. Now he is all alone, banished on Patmos, a prison colony island, off the coast of modern Turkey.
Yes, there were probably many other prisoners, but John was far from his family. As far as we know from history he was completely isolated from his wife and children, so he had no family encouragement.
As far as colleagues: his own brother James as well as all the other apostles, even Paul had been hunted down and murdered. So John had no dear old friends left to encourage him. It is not a real stretch to think that at a minimum, these were hard times.
For John, those days of following Christ, when Jesus called and taught him and all the other Apostles, seemed a long way off.
If any of us were in John’s sandals, trudging along the paths of Patmos, we could easily confess that Jesus felt far away at times.
For someone who knew Jesus face-to-face for 3 plus years, having Christ ascended to Heaven meant at the least: Jesus and His plan, that used to be so clear, seemed distant.
But what God wanted John to know then, and us who live today to know right now is that:
Jesus Never
Changes
Do you sometimes feel distant from the Lord? We have the Bible, we have the church, we have all those books and music, and tools that remind us of the Lord. But, as we go through all the struggles of life, most of us seem to arrive at those distant times, feeling far from the Lord.
Other times if we aren’t careful to maintain spiritual disciplines, we get unhealthy. By not eating God's Word regularly and exercising ourselves in ministry, we become weak. Weakness can cause us to slowly drift away from some of the gracious assurances that we had felt in the past, and we just hurt, ache and struggle on going through the motions of a walk with the Lord.
If we take the time to fully understand what lies before us in this passage, we will find that Revelation 1 was a very special gift to the Church reminding each of them back 2,000 years ago, and each of us today that Jesus Christ is the same (as Hebrews 13:8 reminds us):
• Yesterday (when He walked the dusty trails of Galilee with the disciples, and later when He met with John on Patmos); and
• Today (as He walks up and down among us here in His gathered Church); and
• Forever (as we enjoy His presence in Heaven).

Christ’s church was born into a sin-warped, sin-darkened world of mixed-up marriages, sin-scarred lives, and confused families.
But men and women who were gloriously saved did not automatically become great wives and mothers, or husbands and fathers.
When they came to Christ and were forgiven, God graciously gave them everything they needed to become godly wives, mothers, husbands, and fathers.
But, they needed something else.
They needed worship services that taught them to believe correctly, and then they needed small group discipleship times to learn how to behave correctly.
These new believers needed coaching, training, modeling, and encouragement in a one-on-one relationship. Godly behavior is a series of choices, and those men and women had to be nurtured in daily skills that would lead to loving marriages and families.
And that is the vital ministry that we find captured for us in Titus two.
Christ’s Church Used Coaches in Godly Living
Christ’s church grew into a potent force for changing the world in the quiet nurturing sessions that Titus two men and women performed in practical discipleship. Just as important as the preaching and teaching of the doctrines of God’s Word was the modeling and nurturing of individual saints through practical hands-on lessons in godly living.
The building blocks of Christ’s church are Spirit-filled men and women whose lives are given daily as obedient servants of God.
God wants men and women that will mentor, nurture, and coach godly living for His church. These individuals believe that God has called them to touch one life at a time for His glory.

Isn’t it amazing how universally known the term “Armageddon” has become to the world?
The word Armageddon only occurs ONCE in the Bible. Yet it has become part of the world’s description of bad events. In LA traffic jams are called “Car-Meggon”, on the weather channel, a bad storm is called ‘Snow-megeddon” and so on throughout our media.
All this starts with Megiddo a city mentioned 12x in the Bible, and never in a prophetic sense. It is today the ghost of an ancient walled city, now a sleepy tel or raised mound of layers of occupation and destruction.
Harmegeddon (or Hill of Megiddo) describes the area of the Plain of Jezreel where God declares in Revelation 16:16—that the final battle of mankind against God will take place. Napoleon said it was the greatest battlefield in the world. The Pharaoh of the Exodus Thutmose III said to conquer Megiddo was like taking a thousand cities. Canaanites, Assyrians, Egyptians, Babylonians, Philistines, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Ottomans, French, British, Jordanians, and Israelis all have traveled through this valley in battle.
But in Revelation 16-19 all the world will gather here to defy God, and to seek the destruction of His people Israel and His city Jerusalem as Zechariah 14 describes.

bitterness-is-deadly-are-you-resisting
Are you ready for some trouble? I am amazed as a pastor for the past twenty-five years how few of us really are.
Will you be taken off guard when troubles hit home? When unexpectedly you lose your health, lose your wealth, lose a family member, lose your mobility, lose your independence…or any other of a million unexpected losses we all face each day. This morning God's Word challenges each of us to get ready and stay ready. Troublesome times are coming!
We are looking at how to disciple our children through prayer and the Scriptures. This week we are focusing on preparing our children for troubles they inevitably will face. God's Word teaches us how to see our children avoiding bitterness when they go through deep and painful trials. Troubles are one of the surest things in life. As Job said, “Man is born for adversity as sparks fly upward.” (Job 5.7) From birth, life is an uphill climb against physical obstacles, socio-economic prejudices, relational jealousies, academic challenges, and spiritual adversities. From the challenges of relating to people to the physical exertions of everyday life, there is nothing easy about daily existence.
But as life goes on and we pick up speed we soon find that there is never enough time when we need it, never quite enough money to pay for all we want, and then comes not enough strength to do what is always coming at us. But then the worst part comes upon us, our health begins to erode, our bodies begin to show their frailties and we experience many different types of pain and discomforts.
“When God permits suffering to come to our lives, there are several ways we can deal with it. Some people become bitter and blame God for robbing them of freedom and pleasure. Others just “give up” and fail to get any blessing out of the experience because they will not put any courage into the experience. Still others grit their teeth and put on a brave front, determined to “endure to the very end.” While this is a courageous response, it usually drains them of the strength needed for daily living; and after a time, they may collapse.”
Remember, God wants troubles to push us towards Him. He wants to refine us, purge us, build us up, and overflow our lives with blessings. And all that only comes through TRIALS! So troubles are coming and without any disasters or tragedies -- just life is very hard. Most people do not make it through life without long or short seasons of anger and bitterness at someone or something. Knowing that it is of utmost priority that we prepare our children to avoid bitterness in the trials that WILL COME.

Dear Fellow Students, Thanks for praying as we prepare for the next 10 weeks on the road teaching the NextGeneration. I just finished this class last night as we work to finish up our year-long 52 Greatest Chapter journey. Thinking about Revelation while so many amazing prophetic events are happening all around us made me decide to do a part "B" which is my latest survey of prophecy in the news called "What's Next for Planet Earth". That will be FYGC-52B and as soon as we can get into the studio we will record that class for you also.
FTGC Week-52A Revelation 4-22
Summary: Revelation is God wanting to make Jesus Clearly Seen by His Saints.
God Almighty rules over the entire Universe and accomplishes His plan despite all demonic and human opposition throughout all time. Since Revelation was written, all Bible teachers and scholars have seen three levels of meaning in this book. Some say it is Past History; others say it is a Continuous Inspiration, but after a lifetime of studying this book I agree with those who teach it is Christ’s Map of the Future.
(Rev. 4-5) God shows us what Heaven is like right now, as well as during the Tribulation Wrath of God; and where we fit in that awesome, majestic scene of God Almighty’s power and the joyful worship of His redeemed saints—God shows that He controls, limits, and directs all things.
(Rev. 6-22) God shows how everything is going to end. Jesus describes us the final political landscape of humanity; the final battle humans wage against each other and God; the end of the Global Ruler named Antichrist; the literal rule of the Son of David, Jesus Christ here on Earth for 1,000 years; the beauty and radiance of the new Heaven, the new earth, and the eternal capital city of Jerusalem; and the final destiny of each unrighteous rebel angel and human in Hell, and of every redeemed and righteous human dwelling in God our Father’s house—God shows that He controls, limits, and directs all things.
Revelation follows the earlier Divinely planned confrontation of Moses vs. Egypt’s false gods. This time in Revelation God again directs His wrath against each idol of rebellious humanity, as He cares for His own.
• Saints love and serve God as we struggle through life, so God shows us Jesus comes to us anywhere we are (1), Jesus walks among us in His Church (2-3), and Jesus brings us each safely to stand around His Throne when we finish the plan He made for our lives (4-5).
• Lost humanity believes in evolution and denies Biblical creationism, so the Creator shows them His power. Earth-dwellers worship Mother Earth, so God first allows natural disasters to amplify (6-8), and then begins to send final Divine environmental destructions (16). Demons Know and Fear the Abyss or Bottomless Pit. So, what can we conclude about demons from God's Word? Other than the wonderful reality that they fear Jesus, and are powerless before Him and those clothed in His power:
What Are Demons Like?
INVISIBLE: They are invisible beings. Being incorporeal, they are neither visible nor tangible. There is no record in Scripture of their taking visible or tangible form.
INDEPENDENT: They are personal beings. Personality and corporeality are not to be confused. God is spirit, but He is not corporeal. The same arguments used to prove the personality of God can also be used to demonstrate the personality of demons. They have the power of thought, speech, and of action (Acts 19:15-16).
BODYLESS: They are incorporeal beings, but seem to have a strange passion to possess living organisms, whether human or animal. "When the unclean spirit goes out of a man, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and not finding any, it says, 'I will return to my house from which I came'" (Luke 11:24).
CONVINCED: They are believing beings. There are no atheists among them. "You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder (James 2:19). They have faith, but not saving faith, for it does not lead them to repentance.
SUPERNATURAL: They are powerful beings and exercise superhuman strength. And they are also able to impart superhuman strength to their victims. "A certain man ... who was possessed with demons; ... He was bound with chains and shackles ... yet he would burst his fetters" (Luke 8:27,29).
MALIGNANT: They are harmful beings; they have the power to inflict physical disabilities. "My son, possessed with a spirit which makes him mute; and whenever it seizes him, it dashes him to the ground and he foams at the mouth, and grinds his teeth" (Mark 9:17-18).
Now, with that evil leader Satan, and all his countless demon hosts surrounding all we do each day, what does God’s Word tell us in Christ's church o do?

The Hurricane of Apostasy
Amazingly, this first seal and its white horseman of deception is an event on God’s timetable, much described in the Scriptures. We ended last time in 2 Thessalonians.
Please turn back there with me and as you do, remember that these twin epistles to the church in the city of Thessalonica, were Paul’s first epistles. Paul taught them more about Christ's end-time plans than anyone except John in Revelation. As we look at 2 Thessalonians 2, we see that:
First, Truth Gets Abandoned: 2 Th. 2:3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition,
Then, Almighty God Gets Pushed Aside: 2 Th. 2:4-8 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. 5 Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? 6 And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.
Then, Satan Amazes the World: 2 Th. 2:9-10 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
So, God Sends Strong Delusion on Truth Neglectors: 2 Th. 2:11-12 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Look closely at v. 11 for a moment. This is another tie to the first seal in Rev. 6:2. God is sending strong delusion. God unleashes the first horseman. He is representing a white, deceptive, deluding lie that fills the earth. God plans, sends, and warns us about the:

Notice the application that Paul gives them. Paul tells them what God does when He saves us. God makes us lovers of the truth.

As an added resource on our 52 Greatest Chapter Study this week, here is a special lesson on Jesus explaining the Gospel to Nicodemus.
One of the best-known verses in the Bible is framed by one of the strangest scenes in the Bible. What are we learning this morning? John 3:16 and the story of Nicodemus.
What is the setting? Snakes, Sinners and the Savior. Jesus uses a strange scene, snakes attacking and killing people as the backdrop for John 3:16 and the God who so loved that He gave. Wow-what a lesson, what a passage, and what a joy to learn from Jesus the Message of Salvation this morning!
Welcome to the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
We are learning in these weeks of Bible Study The Master’s Message In John. We are watching Jesus through the eyes and ears of the Apostle John. What is the Gospel? Christ Jesus answers through the book He prompted John to write as the Apostle captures numerous powerful scenes where our Lord Jesus Christ explains the truth about salvation. We have already seen Jesus describing believers as those who:
Possess Jesus Christ; understand salvation is only by substitution; have been overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit; hang on to Christ alone, and finally -- get to start life over again –only this time brand new and in the right way
Turn to that truth with me. It is the best-known verse in God's Word John 3:16. As we stand follow along as I read John 3:14-16.
Jesus is in an evening visit by a seeking Bible Teacher named Nicodemus. The Nicodemus of the New Testament may have been the Nicodemus known in secular history as Nicodemus ben Gurion. If so, he was the 3rd richest man of early 1st Century Israel. His brother was Josephus ben Gurion, as in the world-famous historian we read today called Josephus.
This may explain why Jesus refers to being “born of water”. This may point to John’s Baptism of humble repentance. Nicodemus may have been in that delegation sent to query John at the Jordan River. If so that explains why Jesus dealt so directly with him in John 3. But in our text in the midst of Christ's talk with Nicodemus, in the midst of His explanation of the New Birth, being Born Again, He says you need another birth, you need to become a baby again.
That is a very striking to think about. Why? Because, a baby has no past, just a future!
Our passage reveals Christ's present mission.

To be lifted up (3:14)
In order for man to enter in (3:15)
And get out of perishing and into everlasting life (3:16)
