November 2022 Series: "Dreamer and Doer (Not Doubter)"
This Sunday's Topic: "Spiritual Adulting" by Pastor Bong Baylon
Introduction
Why is it that some of us are bored? We are barely holding on to each day, hoping we will survive every working day, doing what we can to make our lives a little more interesting every now and then. Sometimes life can be exciting but only for a short while. Soon the realities will come rushing back into our minds and hearts discouraging and boring us once again. "What's the use?" we say to ourselves. "Nothing will change." How can we overcome this perennial doubt in our hearts? It's time for us to become dreamers and doers, not doubters!

Discernment is a learning experience. Though we may fail at times to discern well, let us continually learn so that we don't repeat the same mistakes.

Feeling isolated or lonely is a common experience that affects many people at some point in their lives. It can be caused by a variety of factors, such as living alone, losing a loved one, or feeling disconnected from others. Unfortunately, these feelings can have serious consequences, such as depression, anxiety, paranoia, and even physical health problems.

33 Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! 34 “Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?” 35 “Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?” 36 For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen. (Romans 11:33-36)
Sometimes we think that we have figured out God's way of saving people. We feel confident in our belief systems and we judge others based on their belief systems which we think are inferior to ours. But, in the end, when we consider God's ways and means of saving people, we must become humble. His wisdom and power are wiser and greater than ours. We must learn to give God all the glory when it comes to His way of saving people.

Main Idea: “God's wisdom and power should lead us to worship and wonder.” (“Ang karunungan at kapangyarihan ng Diyos ay dapat magresulta ng papuri at pagkamangha sa atin.”)
Why should we give God all the glory when it comes to salvation?
Two Reasons
1. God's wisdom is beyond our comprehension (33).
2. God's power is greater than our limitation (34-36).

Fulfilling Our God-given Responsibility | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” 16 But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?” 17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. 18 But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did: “Their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.” 19 Again I ask: Did Israel not understand? First, Moses says, “I will make you envious by those who are not a nation; I will make you angry by a nation that has no understanding.” 20 And Isaiah boldly says, “I was found by those who did not seek me; I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me.” 21 But concerning Israel he says, “All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and obstinate people.” (Romans 10:14-21)
So many people today have yet to experience true salvation. They remain separated from God and in danger of eternal damnation. But sometimes they are not to be blamed since no one has yet told them the Gospel or has helped them to understand it. This is our responsibility as believers in Christ or as the church. We are called to proclaim the Gospel and help people understand it. Once we have done that, people are now responsible for their responses to it.

Missing Divine Opportunities | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
Date: Oct 7, 2022
Text: Luke 13:10-17
God is always at work in this world and also in our lives. He wants us to join Him in His work of grace and mercy so that we can become active participants rather than passive onlookers. Unfortunately, our focus is on other things. That's why we miss God-moments or divine opportunities.

Being falsely accused of something is a challenging experience. We are often tempted to be defensive or fight back. However, there are times when we ourselves are guilty of falsely accusing others. This should not be the case. God wants us to speak the truth in love and refrain from fabricating or falsely accusing anyone.

18 John’s disciples told him about all these things. Calling two of them, 19 he sent them to the Lord to ask, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?” 20 When the men came to Jesus, they said, “John the Baptist sent us to you to ask, ‘Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?’” 21 At that very time Jesus cured many who had diseases, sicknesses and evil spirits, and gave sight to many who were blind. 22 So he replied to the messengers, “Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. 23 Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.” (Luke 7:18-23)
We all struggle with doubts once in a while. We often feel guilty when that happens. But what if our doubts are actually stepping stones to deeper faith? The very nature of faith requires the presence of some kind of uncertainty. Our questions can lead to a deeper understanding. It can lead to more trust and hope as we step out in faith. But first, we must accept our doubts as legitimate expressions of our desire to believe.

Main Idea: “Honest doubts can often lead to deeper faith.” (“Ang tapat na pagdududa ay madalas humahantong sa mas malalim na pananampalataya.”)
How do we handle doubts?
Two Kind Ways
1. Let people express them freely (vv.18-20).
2. Let people evaluate them personally (vv.21-23).
