Hawke wird nach Afrika geschickt, um einen Putsch zu verhindern. Er trifft dort auf Vidor, den er noch aus Vietnam kennt. Er weiß, dass Vidor als letzter seinen vermissten Bruder gesehen hat.
Hawke verdächtigt einen Konzern, seinen Freund Karston umgebracht zu haben. Bei seinen Nachforschungen wird er von der jungen Marilyn Kelsy tatkräftig unterstützt.
Eine gefährliche Laserwaffe wird gestohlen. Der Täter verlangt eine Million Dollar 'Lösegeld'. Auch Hawke, Dominic und Caitlin tauchen am Ort der Geldübergabe auf.
Gegen seine Gewohnheit kommt Archangel nicht zu einer Verabredung mit Hawke und Santini. Für die Firma ist damit klar, dass Archangel die Fronten gewechselt hat. Er soll nun liquidiert werden.
