At Spring. late Summer into Autumn, the sun is often low enough to cast striking shadows of yourself riding in front of you. I eventually catch up with mine along the top straight road.....or do I?

A lovely ride that crosses three fords on a winding ride through Northumberland. Lovely roads to explore on two wheels, but badly maintained road surfaces with pot holes a plenty and crumbling edges.
Chasing my own shadow once again, down along sweeping, winding roads, enjoying the sensations, the sounds and the sheer vitality of the countryside. Memories of such rides and reflecting on each one help keep me alive as yet another gloomy grey English winter rapidly approaches.
A route that allows me to stretch the little Ducati along some winding curves and fast straights right over the top of moors, leaving my worries behind me.
Entering a roundabout does not always mean you will leave it one piece! The curves and shrubs obscured this particular surprise until I encountered it. Usually, I travel a good 10 mph faster around this large roundabout and this would have had a different outcome. Always look far ahead and moderate your speed accordingly.
One of those alarming split second incidents where on a corner a cyclist, motorcyclist and small truck are directly in line. Ultimately, I was in the wrong, here. However, I was committed and reduced speed just enough to leave the cyclist as much room as I could in the micro second the truck and I passed.
Tractor encounters can end very badly for little motorcycles. In both examples the driver saw me, although the second one thought he'd be a bell end and try and intimidate me.
However, in both examples I was ready; I'd seen the first tractor, reduced speed and saw the other lane was clear to position into, and the second I had power to accelerate if I needed it. As always look ahead, and have full control of your machine for inevitable surprises on the road. Safe travels.
