A less-well-known tale by Wilkie Collins, featuring his customary darkness, depravity and criminality. Much like his novel 'Basil' (an adaptation of which has also been uploaded to this channel) there are touches in this story rather reminiscent of Daphne Du Maurier's later work, such as My Cousin Rachel. However, I think there's also a similar to Will Cather's The Affair at Grover Station - again, there's a radio adaptation of that story on this channel, also recommended.
