Pianist Bill Charlap's album featuring his revered longstanding trio with bassist Peter Washington and drummer Kenny Washington. Street of Dreams is a celebration of New York City as it emerges from an unprecedentedly challenging period, as reflected in the eight impeccably curated songs on the album, a delightful mix of jazz classics and Songbook favorites. Originally produced in 1983, the first solo album of Munetaka Higuchi, a super drummer from Japan.
At that time, LOUDNESS were releasing albums at a tremendous pace, and this work was recorded during a very busy period with an American tour in front of him; he was also producing Mari Hamada's debut work.
This album has top-level Japanese musicians of the time performing:
Kyoji Yamamoto, CHAR, Kenji Kitajima, Hiroaki Matsuzawa, Yuki Nakajima, Ken Watanabe, Yoshihiro Naruse, Nobuo Yamada, Keiji Katayama, and others.
Like Cozy Powell, he doesn't focus on showcasing his technique, and he puts the emphasis on music first and foremost. I think it's the biggest reason why it's a great LP.
Perhaps the participating members are well aware of their intentions, and they are playing their respective roles, and each song boasts an independent degree of perfection.

His pieces carefully balance emotional depth and intellectual rigor, with wonderful harmonies and consistently high levels of performance.
