EFCC grills actress over spraying and stepping on new Naira notes
Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have commenced an investigation of Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, an actress and cosmetologist, for allegedly tampering with the redesigned Naira notes, an offense contrary to Section 21 (5) of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN Act, 2007.
A statement released by the agency on Friday, February 3, says Omoseyin was arrested by operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Fraud Related Offences Commission, ICPC, on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 along Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, following intelligence report.
‘’The 31-year-old was arrested after the video of her spraying and stepping on the newly redesigned Naira notes at a party surfaced online. In the viral video, she was also seen flaunting wads of the new Naira notes.
The suspect was subsequently handed over to the EFCC on Thursday, February 2, 2023 for further investigations.''the statement read
The agency added that items recovered from her at the point of arrest include a Range Rover and iPhone mobile devices.
The suspect will be charged in court once investigations have been concluded.

The Oyo State Police Command has began a probe after supporters of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress clashed on Thursday in Ibadan.
The incident reportedly left three people dead.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, who called in on a programme on Fresh FM Ibadan, said the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department had been mandated to lead an investigating team to the scene of the incident.
Osifeso said, "Yes, the unfortunate incident did occur yesterday, and as we speak investigation has commenced into unraveling the root cause of the incident. Oyo State is the cradle of sophistication and the world depends on Oyo for a lot of things, we should not continue in the trajectory known for hooliganism.
"Elections will come and go but people will be there."
The police spokesman urged leaders, parents and guardians to prevail on their wards against being used to scuttle the electoral process.
The PUNCH reports that members of the APC were holding a meeting at the party office at Iyana Court, Ile-tuntun in Ibadan when vehicles of the PDP members passing by reportedly provoked the APC loyalists and started throwing objects at them.
An eyewitness said, "The PDP then got angry, and when (they) retaliated, a leading member of the party and a member of the House of Representatives then picked a gun and fired gunshots at the APC members. That was what led to a free for all.
"The provoked attack saw many members of the APC injured with one of the party's House of Assembly candidates escaped by the whiskers."

The plans, which the government says are needed to curb overreach by judges, have drawn fierce opposition from groups including lawyers, and raised concerns among business leaders, widening already deep political divisions in Israeli society.

Netanyahu has dismissed the protests as a refusal by leftist opponents to accept the results of last November's election, which produced one of the most right-wing governments in Israel's history.
