Oct 16, 2019: I'm the Green Party of Canada candidate for Thornhill in the 2019 federal election. Polls suggest there will a minority government, and I want to show the other parties I will work with them. So I did stand-up comedy at an open mic at Yuk Yuk's comedy club, in case the other party leaders were there. Here's what I wrote in the description for that video: This is my love song for Green Party of Canada leader Elizabeth May, asking her to leave her new husband for me. Her husband is John Kidder, a Green Party candidate. But I’m a Green Party candidate too. And my short height and bald head make me more green, as you’ll hear in the song. On Oct 10, the team helping Ottawa Centre Green candidate Angela Keller-Herzog was recording music in a backyard. I dropped by and decided to quickly write new lyrics to my 2011 love song for Elizabeth May. Back then the big issue was her not being allowed in the debates. The backstory: During the 2011 election, I wrote the Love Song for Elizabeth May and tweeted it to her. She tweeted back "I love you too." Immediately I was called by the newspapers. CTV Newschannel sent a limo to bring me to their studio for an interview. CBC Radio played it and called it a "must listen" on their website. Yahoo named it one of the top political videos of the year. And most importantly, it helped get her elected for the first time. The song was about how she wasn't allowed in the debates, and so I would debate her on romantic dates where we would do eco-friendly things. But she's in the debates now. And since that song, I've run for the Green Party provincially and federally. And now there's a more important issue. In April, she got married to John Kidder, who's also running for the Green Party. I want her to leave John for me! I’m running for the Green Party in Thornhill, Ontario. Please vote for me. Also vote for Elizabeth. And, ok, vote for John.
