Continuing my recent run of speeding up my slower songs and slowing down my belters, this is a remake of 'Urban Paranoia', plsyed on electric but at a quater of the pace of its usual acoustic guise. I wrote this, way back in 1993. Yet the lyrics could have been written today. Tomorrow too, I have no doubt. Greed, fear, hate and corruption seem to stride on, whilst help and hope get left further and further behind. There are a few musical mistakes in this, unless you didn't notice them, in whcih case, there are no mistakes in this, but there was a good vibe over this, which I don't think I will be able to replicate - in effect, it's a first take, although I must've played it hundreds of times by now - so I thought I would place it up. To respond briefly to the debates about this song, it is indeed about abuse, but it is a wider net than I see being discussed, i.e. it was not written to address THIS sort of abuse, or THAT sort of abuse - but all abuse. I thought I record a lyric-only version, minus the music and performance, and let the message come across unadorned. It's also a positive song, the victimiser is the victim, or will be "when justice comes a-calling..." - the victim of their own putresence.
