On my first full day of exploring Colombo I start by going to the Viharamahadevi park because I heard there were snake charmers there and I definitely wanted to see those. Upon my arrival I see that there's a huge tent camp with a few thousands of Colombo scouts. They are spending 5 days in the park, they told me. A day of exploring isn't complete without sampling some local goodies. I started by trying the famous King's coconut and chatting a bit with the lady who sells them. What a kind lady that was. As I continue my walk in the park I notice there are some elephants to be seen as well. After visiting the park I make my way to the Gangaramaya temples. On the way I make a stop over to try some local cake called wandu wandu. Very delicious cake that tastes a bit like gingerbread. Upon my arrival at the Gangaramaya temple I visit first the museum, then check out the hair relic of Buddha and watch the many beautiful statues at the temple. A 5 minute walk away there's a lake temple as well.
