The Bible speaks a lot about the Holy Spirit - the Spirit of God. He lives within us who believe. He helps us live for Christ. He is called THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH. 1 John 4:6. He will always operate as accords with the truth of the Bible.
Our Lord warns of false spirits. Many talk about “spirituality”... We have to be sure WHAT spirit is at work. 1 Timothy 4:1 - Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils. 1 John 4:1 - Beloved, believe not every spirit, but TRY THE SPIRITS whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. We must TRY the spirits - By THE BIBLE - our basis of Truth. Isaiah 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
The Holy Spirit calls us to obey the Word of God - not "experience". He does not lead anyone contrary to His Word. The charismatic movement is filled with Delusion and Confusion. It’s a mixture of truth and error – it has swapped Sound Doctrine for false teaching and new revelations. Instead of being decent and in order, it has become indecent and disorderly. God is NOT the author of Confusion. God's Word warns us about the LEAVEN of wrong doctrine. We must contend earnestly for the Faith and discern false teaching.
WHEN are believers baptised by the Spirit? It’s when they are "born of the Spirit" (John 3:8). We are Born Again by the Spirit of God (John 3:1-8). We are Baptised into Christ by the Spirit of God (1 Cor. 12:13). At salvation he is "born of the Spirit" - 1 Corinthians 12:13. Romans 8:9 Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. EVERY BELIEVER has the Spirit of God. We are Saved, Sealed, Sanctified, Secured, and made a Son - by the Spirit of God!
SALVATION is His Work. He Convicts the Sinner. John 16:8-11 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 Of sin, because they believe not on me; 10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. We cannot be saved without the working of the Spirit of God.
He Exalts the Saviour - John 16:14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. His work is to lift up the Name of Jesus. He Saves and Seals us. Ephesians 1:13 In whom (the Lord Jesus) ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.

2 Chronicles 25:9 The LORD is able to give thee much more than this.
How are we investing our lives? Do we trust the Lord?
2 chronicles 25 tells of King Amaziah. He did that which is right in the sight of the Lord, but not with a perfect heart.
His life had started off well; he was seeking the Lord. But later in his life he worships false gods.
As he prepares for the battle he gathers 300,000 soldiers together. But he wasn't satisfied – he wanted more. So he went to the king of Israel and hastily hires another 100,000 soldiers. Amaziah did not ask counsel of the Lord before hiring these men.
A man of God came to him, saying, O King let not the army of Israel go with thee for the Lord is not with Israel, to wit with all the children of Ephraim.
Proverbs 24:6 says, For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.
Israel at this time were given to idolatry - the Lord was not with them. As believers we are not to join up ourselves, and yoke ourselves, with unbelievers or ungodly organisations, no matter what benefits may come; because the Lord is not with them. We can't expect God to bless that.
Ephesians 5:11 says to have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
Amaziah tells the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I gave to the army of Israel? The man of God answered, the Lord is able to give thee much more than this.
If Amaziah sent away these hired soldiers then he would lose all this money. But the man of God tells him that “the Lord is able to give thee much more than this”.
Before we invest into something let’s be sure it's the will of God, and inquire of the Lord if the investment we're making is right. Let us not be hasty when we make decisions, and not make decisions based on carnal reasons. That is a very worldly philosophy.
As Christians we should focus on serving the Lord, and make decisions based on what is pleasing unto the Lord.
Some Christians start out zealous for the things of God but later it peters out a little when they start taking interest in making money. It can be a job takes them away from church, from soul winning.
Amaziah invested money in the wrong thing. But then the man of God said that the Lord is able to give thee much more than this.
If we have made a mistake like this then let us walk away from such a bad investment. Focus on serving the Lord.
Do not forsake the assembling ourselves together as a manner of some is but exhorting one another and so much the more as you see the day approaching.
Christ is the head of the church, who is the beginning the firstborn from the dead, that in all things he might have the preeminence. He should be number one. The first factor in all the decisions that we make.
It is better to have a more humble job where you're still able to serve God, and not to worry about the hundred talents of silver.
Where God guides He will provide.
How will we spend our time? In reading the Bible – or other things. Let us spend time in the Word of God and in prayer – and receive God’s wisdom and know good, Biblical counsel.
Some would invest in the wrong types of clothing, or books, and lots of worldly things. God can help us to clean up our spiritual life. He can help us to get rid of anything that's not pleasing unto the Lord.
Instead of making the wrong choice of fornication, rather honour the Lord and get married. The Bible tells us not to be unequally yoked
In the area of giving, let us honour the Lord, as the first consideration.
When we face decisions, let's choose wisley, even if living godly in Christ Jesus means that we face suffering and persecution. The reward for serving God is greater than whatever it costs.
The Lord is able to give thee much more than this.

What is the kind of Prayer that works? The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much – James 5:16.
1. Prayer with POWER. "Effectual fervent" is the word “energeo”. It means to be active, to do, to be mighty in, to work. By prayer we tap into the supernatural power of God. God is able. His power works in us, especially as we pray.
We need the power of God. This will only come as we truly learn to pray, and act prayerfully. Elijah prayed and saw powerful results. It was the power of faith.
Prayer is powerful because it is heard by God. Psalms 65:2 O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come. God hears the prayers of His people. He is always listening.
2. Prayer with PASSION. It is FERVENT - “burning with passion”. Real prayer is an intense pleading, by faith, at the throne of grace. It is prayer from a heart burdened for others.
It is persevering prayer. We need to pray, more earnestly. Luke 22:44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
We can give up too soon. We can get so easily distracted or discouraged in prayer. Prayer doesn’t need to be lengthy, wordy, or fancy. But let the prayer be from the heart, ablaze with love for Christ, for souls, with love for the truth.
Psalms 63:1 …my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee… Here is prayer with intensity and passion… prayer that comes from a deep desire to see God move.
Bunyan: “In prayer it is better to have a heart without words than words without heart.”
James 5:17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain… Elijah prayed more earnestly. He was a man of like passions, in the sense of human weaknesses. Also the passions of Elijah included a passion we would do well to have, the passion to pray.
When Peter was put in prison, the early church faced a great trial. They prayed earnestly for him. Acts 12:5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. And that prayer worked.
It was passionate prayer - fervent prayer.
We should also be passionate in our prayers for others. We should pray for their needs, their hurts, and their struggles.
We must pray, and pray through. We must pray until our hearts are fully in tune with the heart and will of God. That our passions will be His passions. A biblical passion.
Some have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge (Rom. 10:2). There’s much false teaching, much misguided passion. Some people are fervent and have zeal, yet it’s wrong. They are misled.
3. Prayer with PURITY. Our verse tells of a RIGHTEOUS MAN. The prayer that works will be the prayer of the righteous. A righteous man is made right with God. He is in a right relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ.
We are called to right living. Our Lord rebukes the Pharisees, Mark 7:6-7 …This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. 7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me… Their prayers were vain. They claimed to be righteous, but were not.
Our heart can be made right with God… As David cried out, Psalms 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
What is "a righteous man"? One who has received the righteousness of Christ - given by God. God has declared him righteous based on his faith in the finished work of Christ.
A righteous man is one who has had his sins forgiven by faith in Christ. There is the realisation of sin, of the overwhelming need for God’s awesome grace. As we trust Him, His blood washes away all sin and the righteousness of Christ is imputed to us.
Unless we are righteous, the Lord will not receive our prayer. Psalms 66:18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.
There is a barrier that gets in the way of our prayers from reaching God. Isaiah 59:1, 2 - Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
Who are the people whose prayers get heard? 1 Peter 3:12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
As God’s righteous people, we will want to communicate with our Heavenly Father. Our prayer life will help us live right.
Learn to pray. Pray through.
PRAYER CHANGES THINGS - When just men and women pray, the Lord makes His tremendous power available to them. We can know such prayer power. Prayer that is effectual, fervent, from righteous people…

God has given to us exceeding great and precious promises.
What makes Christianity different from all other religions is that it shows us the truth of the new birth. We can be born again.
It’s an imperative - we must be born again. John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
A reservation has been made in Heaven for us… We read of an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you.

• Guarded
• Cared for
• Preserved
We are kept, by God Himself and His very power. We are under His continual and watchful care.
Heaven is
• For sure
• For certain
• For ever
1 Corinthians 2:9
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
The appearing of Jesus Christ is not far off. The apocalypse. The revelation. The unveiling.
It’s something to look forward to. If you have been born again.
Fire will try your works of faith.
Before His coming we face a fire and testing that will actually bless us.
“The only way to learn strong faith is to endure great trials. I have learned my faith by standing firm amid severe testings” - Muller.
There's a Day coming when the Lord Jesus Christ will be revealed. Are we ready?

1. BE BORN OF GOD
We have to be born again. It is then that we become a child of God.

God says that they who are Born of God are Overcomers.

Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
We are waging war against a system that is anti-god.
It is godless.
It hates the truth.
It hates the Gospel.
The world should be dead to us. We should be dead to the world. No more love for it. No more attachment to it.
Dare to stand against the world. Don’t be a conformist.
3. BE A BELIEVER
Believe God. Trust God.
1 John 5:5
Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
Know the Lord.
Trust in God. Take a hold of His hand, by faith.
Faith is the victory that overcomes the world.
Doubt and unbelief just brings defeat. That’s where the devil wants you to be.
And to stay.
God's Word is jam-packed with the stories of heroes of faith. Real men and women of God who took a stand and believed God and His promises.
Abraham - ""the friend of God"" followed the Lord, even when he didn't know where he was going. When his faith was tested he even went to the point where he would have even sacrificed Isaac, his son.
Moses, the man of faith who turned his back on Egypt and all its treasures and pleasures, and chose instead the afflictions of the people of God. By faith he led Israel out of Egypt to the promised land.
See the faith of Joshua. He crossed over the Jordan on dry ground. He circled Jericho for seven days and the walls fell down.
By faith Enoch walked with God. He had this testimony, that he pleased God.
By faith Joseph saw God deliver him, time and time again, through tremendous trials.
By faith Noah built an ark to the saving of his house.
By faith Rahab the harlot believed God. We know her now as a woman of faith, despite where she used to be.
By faith Samson was a one man army against the Philistines. He failed, but he got ultimate victory.
The Bible is filled with life after life of the victory of faith. Of faithfulness.
See Elijah. He stood and confronted the king over his sin. Elijah was subject to like passions as we are, but he had faith. He prayed, and the heavens were locked up. He prayed again, and the rain came.
Daniel's faith held strong in a heathen land. He was strong in the Lord, in faith, in prayer. When he was older he stood firmly to take a message of judgment to the king.
Be men and women of faith. Victory will come.
The good news is that Christ has already defeated Satan for us!
1 John 4:4
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
Since Christ is our Saviour and we belong to Him, we share in His victory over satan. The Lord Jesus has set us free from Satan's power.
God wants us to have victory in our lives. As we learn to trust and obey the Lord Jesus who lives in us, the more we will be able to say ""No!"" to the world, the flesh, and the devil.
Faith is the way to victory over the world, the flesh and the devil.
Believer, you can know victory after victory. Victory after defeat.
By faith you can rise up and stand and know victory even after you have failed.
1 Corinthians 15:57
