In this video I decided to walk along the coastline near Odayam first and then towards Varkala North Cliff. Just to give you an impression of how the places look. While walking along the beach I saw a man climbing the trees to get the coconuts out. I was intrigued and decided to stick around for a bit. Eventually I bought a coconut of him and it was delicious. During an evening walk Marcus invited me in for some ginger tea. While talking with him and his family I came up with the idea of asking him to go on a fishing trip. He agreed and the next day we made it happen. Together with Marcus and 2 friends we went into the sea for a few hours to try to catch some fish. That day the conditions weren't so great so we barely caught anything. It was a nice experience to see how the fishermen live their daily lives. After getting back to main land we went to check out the fishermen that use the 2 tractors to pull back a net at the Negombo beach. They caught way more fish, mostly small silver fish. As Marcus helped them he received some fish as a reward. We went back to his house, his wife cooked a nice fish omelet accompagnied by a ginger tea for me. It was delicious to say the least. Because Marcus had left a great impression on me I wanted to give him something back.
