In today's video, we are having a look at a very cool and affordable pedal from the folks at JHS pedals. This is the Octave Reverb, their take on a very popular type of reverb used extensively in the 80's. I'll be going in-depth with both the Octave Up and the Octave Down modes.
I'm a Stringjoy artist, and play their set of Broadways on all my Electric guitars. I play the 10/13.5/17/28/38/50 on all my Gibson and Epiphone. I play the 9.5/13/16/26/36/48 on my Strat and Telecaster.

This is part 2 of the Advice for beginner guitarists series. During 2020, many new guitar players emerged! This created a massive boom for the guitar industry and Online guitar courses sky rocketed! As much as I am thankful for online courses, there are things that new players did not get to learn or even experience: the pleasures of playing with a band Live.
Three years locked up in our houses, has prevented all the new players from getting much needed experience which is an integral part of being a musician. Simple things that we use to learn "on the job", many of you never got to learn. Us old players take for granted that what used to be "common sense" advice, was never passed down to all the new and older players.
So, I made three videos with the best information I could muster, and this is the first in that short series. I hope you enjoy it and get to learn some valuable insight.

In this episode, we are comparing the Way Huge Red Llama MKii to the simulation of this pedal found in the Line 6 HX Stomp, called the Alpaca Rouge. Now, from the research I've done, it states that the Alpaca Rouge is based on a modded Red Llama. The mod in question seems to be the addition of a Tone knob, which the original does not have. Keeping this in mind, I've cranked the tone on the Alpaca Rouge wide open.
In order to make a fair comparison, I am using a TC Electronic Wiretap, which I've pre-recorded some riff on. I'm using the exact same performance for the Red Llama and HX Stomp comparisons. The amp used is a Vox AC15c1, going to a Two Notes Captor 16, and then to my audio interface and into Reaper, where I am using the Celestion SpeakerMix Pro with the Greenback DSR and an AKG MD421 microphone.

Today's video is a short example of the sound of a Telecaster and Vox Ac15 for rock tones. Today's AC15 is a 2017 model, all stock. I won't be using any pedals, it's just the Vox Ac15 and telecaster. The guitar is an MIM Tele from 2001, loaded with The Pickup Wizard 1955-64 set.
I'm using one setting throughout the whole video. I'm just using different pickup selection and changing the dynamics in my playing to achieve different tones.
If you haven't seen the clean demo I did, click on the video down below.

In today's episode of Vox Friendly pedals, we are looking at the Carl Martin Purple Moon with the Vox AC15c1. The Purple Moon is a 2-in1 pedal that offers both Fuzz and Univibe tones in one enclosure. The Carl Martin Purple Moon aims to offer those Classic Rock tones from such legendries as Jimmy Hendrix, Robin Trower and David Gilmour, to name a few.
The Fuzz side of the pedal works in parallel with the Vibe portion. You can turn the fuzz all the way down if you wish, however, the Vibe is an always on effect. This means you can attenuate it but can not completely take it out of the circuit.
We'll be listening to some audio examples with different guitars, going through my 2017 Vox AC15c1. The mic is my trusty Shure SM57, positioned slightly off axis.
