Is it possible to be spiritual in spite of your busyness? Those who are busy seem to think that it's an impossible task. But there is a way to pursue a spiritual life that can alter the imbalance of a busy life. We can learn that from the story of Zacchaeus. Our goal is not just to become a good person on the outside, but to become a good person on the inside. God desires the transformation of our desires, not just our actions.

Do you feel that you are not growing spiritually? Is your heart restless, worried, or anxious? Are you having all kinds of relational problems at home or at work? Are you barely just holding on to each day hoping that you will survive until the weekend? Do you have a hard time sleeping? Does your idea of rest mean you have to go to a faraway beach just to chill out and forget all your problems? Are you over-eating, playing too many games, or binge-watching too many Netflix movies or K-dramas? If any of these statements are true of you, you're probably grace-deficient. One of the ways we can receive grace is by immersing ourselves in the Holy Scriptures. But how do we do that?

It is a challenge to talk about religion and politics because these topics are often very sensitive and can be controversial. People often have very strong opinions about religion and politics and are not willing to compromise or see things from different perspectives. This can lead to heated debates and disagreements that can be difficult to navigate or negotiate. But it's always helpful to know what Jesus taught about politics. Perhaps, He alone can bring about the right balance to resolve the disagreements.

Failing to Listen Well | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
31 Jesus went on to say, “To what, then, can I compare the people of this generation? What are they like? 32 They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling out to each other: “‘We played the pipe for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not cry.’ 33 For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’ 34 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ 35 But wisdom is proved right by all her children.” (Luke 7:31-35)
In a normal relationship, when we fail to listen well to each other, there will be problems. How much more when we fail to listen to God. Some people think it doesn't matter much if we listen or not to God's word. Nothing seems to happen immediately anyway. But what they don't understand is that there are dire consequences.

God creates us for relationships. But not all relationships are good for us. Some of them are detrimental to our spiritual lives and can harm us or make us ineffective and unproductive. Ironically, the detrimental relationships that the Bible warns us about are not with regard to unbelievers or the people in the world. The apostle Paul says in 1 Cor 5:9-10, "I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case, you would have to leave this world." The Bible warns us to watch out against certain types of believers within the church that can negatively influence us.

(For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm of David.) 1 Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer. 2 How long will you people turn my glory into shame? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods? 3 Know that the Lord has set apart his faithful servant for himself; the Lord hears when I call to him. 4 Tremble and do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. 5 Offer the sacrifices of the righteous and trust in the Lord. 6 Many, Lord, are asking, “Who will bring us prosperity?” Let the light of your face shine on us. 7 Fill my heart with joy when their grain and new wine abound. 8 In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety. (Psalm 4:1-8)
Every now and then we will meet difficult people. For various reasons, they tend to give us a lot of stress. How we wish they would go away! But, sometimes, these types of people are living with us, or vice-versa, and that creates even more stress. How do we deal with difficult people, especially when we cannot get rid of them or we cannot get out of that situation?

Main Idea: “We can only depend on God with difficult people.” (“Ang Diyos lang ang maaasahan sa mga taong mahirap pakisamahan.”)
How do we deal with difficult people?
Four Prayer Items
1. Ask God for relief (vv.1-3).
2. Ask God for rescue (vv.4-5).
3. Ask God for renewal (vv.6-7).
4. Ask God for rest (v.8).

1 I ask then: Did God reject his people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin. 2 God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew. Don’t you know what Scripture says in the passage about Elijah — how he appealed to God against Israel: 3 “Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to kill me”? 4 And what was God’s answer to him? “I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” 5 So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace. 6 And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace. 7 What then? What the people of Israel sought so earnestly they did not obtain. The elect among them did, but the others were hardened, 8 as it is written: “God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that could not see and ears that could not hear, to this very day.” 9 And David says: “May their table become a snare and a trap, a stumbling block and a retribution for them. 10 May their eyes be darkened so they cannot see, and their backs be bent forever.” (Romans 11:1-10)
Salvation is by grace through faith. No one should presume upon it. Instead, we should always be thankful for it. But sometimes we forget this. Consequently, we neglect the Gospel in our lives. Instead of living our lives according to the truth of the Gospel, we become worldly and disobedient. As a result, many people stumble. Instead of being salt and light, we become the very reason why people reject the truth. We need to have the right attitudes toward salvation.

Main Idea: “Since salvation is by grace, we must be grateful and faithful.” (“Dahil ang kaligtasan ay ayon sa biyaya, dapat tayong magpasalamat at manatiling tapat.”)
What are the right attitudes toward salvation?
Two Attitudes

2. We should be faithful (7-10).
