?? Teaching King Overs & Shaping Leap Collection - A Journey Towards Excellence ??
Join KingAir McNab and I as we take you through an engaging training session, focusing on Overs and enhancing Leap Collection. ??
King is a bit too aggressive while chasing the disc and winds up putting himself in bad position - too "deep" or too far under the disc. Collection needs to take place before the dog gets to the disc and this is easier said than trained.
In this video, we share a typical session using techniques that will help your dog master these skills, setting them up for a lifetime of confident, precise, and healthy leaps. Jump in and see the power of positive, progressive training in action!

This is the "Proper Pawsitive Vybe Ribbon Pattern".
This is how the pattern was drawn up in 2009. It tends to contract the flank a bit and is has been replaced with a Pendulum pattern rather than this ribbon.
The Ribbon pattern can be considered a proofing exercise for the skill or can be used to contract the flank.

Ron & Epic demonstrate the vault principle of Cuing Direction.
Telling the dog what vault we are doing and where we are going to do it is step one in vault communication. Cuing Direction creates a simple solution for doing both.

King has been through this drill a few times, but we've been focused on Team Movement and his disc mauling problem. Breaking out the new guy and Epic to demonstrate some Trigger and Wait work provided a great opportunity to revisit this critical skill for this studly young man.
