Injustice is everywhere. We must confront it whenever we can. But sometimes, as believers, we suffer simply because we are following Christ. This is another form of injustice. But how do we respond during such times? Christ Himself shows us how.
Never Too Old To Serve the Lord | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
36 There was also a prophet, Anna, the daughter of Penuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, 37 and then was a widow until she was eighty-four.[e] She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying. 38 Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem. (Luke 2:36-38)
In the Philippines, some congressmen are planning to pass a law that would lower the retirement age of government employees to 56. That's good news! Most people work so hard in their younger years that, when they grow old, they can retire comfortably. Now, if this law is approved, people can retire much earlier. They can then spend their remaining years enjoying life and their families. But is that all we can really expect when people grow old? Interestingly, the Bible speaks of many examples of people who, when they grew old, chose to live productively and fruitfully for the Lord in spite of their old age.

Effective Witnessing | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
57 When it was time for Elizabeth to have her baby, she gave birth to a son. 58 Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown her great mercy, and they shared her joy. 59 On the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they were going to name him after his father Zechariah, 60 but his mother spoke up and said, “No! He is to be called John.” 61 They said to her, “There is no one among your relatives who has that name.” 62 Then they made signs to his father, to find out what he would like to name the child. 63 He asked for a writing tablet, and to everyone’s astonishment he wrote, “His name is John.” 64 Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue set free, and he began to speak, praising God. 65 All the neighbors were filled with awe, and throughout the hill country of Judea people were talking about all these things. 66 Everyone who heard this wondered about it, asking, “What then is this child going to be?” For the Lord’s hand was with him. (Luke 1:57-66)
We are called to be witnesses of the Gospel. Sharing the Good News with others is our privilege and responsibility. But not many of us are doing it effectively. Effective witnessing is all about sharing the Good News to others so that they are persuaded to trust God also. But how do we do that in such a way that we do not alienate people in the process?

The Focus of God's Judgment | Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
12 All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law. 13 For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. 14 (Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law. 15 They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them.) 16 This will take place on the day when God judges people’s secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares. (Romans 2:12-16)
God will be fair to everyone on judgment day. He will judge both Jews and Gentiles (and all of us) based on truth and impartiality. But how will this be applied? How can Jews and Gentiles be treated equally and fairly, especially since the Jews have a certain advantage -- they have the laws of God and claim to follow them! Or, to put it in another way, how God can treat those who claim to be religious versus those who are not religious at all (e.g. the atheist, pagan, ungodly, etc.)? Where will He focus His judgment?

1 Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters. 2 One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. 3 The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them. 4 Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.
5 One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. 6 Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord. Whoever eats meat does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God; and whoever abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. 7 For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone. 8 If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. 9 For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.
10 You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. 11 It is written: “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’” 12 So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God. (Romans 14:1-12)
We all have our differences. Unfortunately, we tend to judge one another because of those differences. We do this in various ways. Sometimes we distance ourselves in subtle ways from those who are different from us. At other times, we reject people outright. In some situations, we may even attack or insult people who are different from us. Cyberbullying, for example, is very common today. This is wrong. As God's people, we must be careful not to judge anyone, especially our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Main Idea: “The Gospel teaches us not to judge one another.” (“Tinuturuan tayo ng Ebanghelyo na huwag maghusga sa isa't isa.”)
Why we should not judge one another?
Three Reasons
1. We have all been accepted by God through the Gospel (1-4).
2. We are all accountable to the Lord Jesus (5-9).
3. We will all stand before God (10-12).

Transforming Prayers | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
Everything else that we have talked about so far in this series is really about preparing for this last topic. This is really the most important question: How do we pray Transforming Prayers? Prayer is part of the classical disciplines of the Christian church. It is essential to our identity. But not everyone knows how to pray in this way. Often our prayers fall short of actually transforming us, other people, or even the world we live in. In other words, we pray only as needed or when there are emergencies, but not for transformation.

When Bad Things Happen To Good People | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
Date: Oct 19, 2022
Text: Psalm 44:1-26
When we know we are at fault, it is easier to accept when bad things happen to us. But when we know that we are not doing anything wrong, it is harder to accept. We begin to ask the Lord all sorts of questions. Often, our questions are wrong because our focus is on the character of God rather than on ourselves.

Feeling isolated or lonely is a common experience that affects many people at some point in their lives. It can be caused by a variety of factors, such as living alone, losing a loved one, or feeling disconnected from others. Unfortunately, these feelings can have serious consequences, such as depression, anxiety, paranoia, and even physical health problems.

It's important to discern when the enemy is trying to deceive us. One crucial sign is when we are tempted to keep to ourselves our plans or purposes in order not to be accountable to anybody. This is a sure sign that we may not be walking in the light just as Christ is in the light.
