I'm Finally Starting To Figure Out Sheepshead Fishing
Since I figured out a few docks and spots that hold sheepshead on the last trip, I headed back out on Shem Creek with fiddlers in hand, trying to see if I could figure these fish out. I switched it up after a little bit and started using the knocker rig to see if I could increase my hookup ratio and I can't say for sure that's the reason I did better or what, but I'm definitely starting to figure out sheepshead fishing.
My knocker rig was 30lb fluorocarbon leader, 1/2 oz egg sinker and a size 1 octopus circle hook paired up with fiddler crabs. The bite was on with these fish using crabs so I burned through a half pint of fiddlers in a little under 2 hours. After I ran out of bait I tied on the trusty Bellaire Swimbait Jig with a 5" paddlerZ by Zman and started casting swimbaits around to catch a few more fish before calling it a day.
I hope you all enjoyed the video and I hope it was helpful for at least some of you. If there's anything you'd like to see me try next in a future video please let me know down below. Thanks for watching and have a great day!
Well I've been talking about giving sheepshead fishing a shot for a long time but it seemed intimidating to try out and the redfish have been biting so well I didn't want to change things up. However, I decided I wanted a challenge on this trip and man am I glad I did because I found my new favorite fish to target in sheepshead.
I tied on a very short leader carolina rig with a 1/2 oz egg sinker, 20lb fluoro carbon leader and a size 1 circle hook and started dropping crabs around dock pilings. I lost a lot of baits before I actually landed my first fish, but after a redfish or two I finally landed my first sheepshead of the day. It was a tiny guy, but once I got the feel for how they bite and take the bait I had a great first sheepshead trip and caught a whole lot of fish including my first ever keeper sheepshead. While it was a personal best it was still a relatively small sheeper so I won't be bragging about this PB too much. Now when I hit 20" that'll be another story...
The wind was a challenge on this trip so I apologize for the wind noise in the first few minutes of the video but I did what I could to equalize the sound.
I hope you all enjoyed the video, there will definitely be a lot more sheepshead fishing to come so keep an eye out for future videos. Thank you so much for watching and have a great weekend.

I went out to the neighborhood pond in search of some big pre spawn spring time bass. The bait I fished all morning was a weightless, texas rigged finesse worm and they were munching! I caught 6 really big bass and a few small ones in a little under 2 hours and it was a blast! My rig was a medium light setup with 8lb test so I had to keep the drag loose and play the fish. It was hard but the payoff was great. Let me know what you think and please enjoy!

By far the most common question I get from people who are either beginner fishermen or who are just trying to be more successful when fishing in saltwater is “how do I rig my rods to catch more fish?”. In this video I go over my entire setups I use for fishing both live and cut bait as well as when I’m throwing artificial lures. I explain why I choose to use the rods I use, the type of line I use, and even the hook size I use. I explain what line-to-line connection I use and why I choose to use it.
I really hope this video will be helpful to other fishermen and women out there, I know if I had seen this video a couple years ago I wouldn’t have struggled to catch fish for nearly as long as I did. I haven’t done too many how-to videos in the past, but I really felt this one is important and could be really beneficial for so many anglers out there. If you have any follow-up questions on topics I mentioned in the video or there’s anything I didn’t touch on in my video please let me know down below.
Again I hope this was helpful for you in some way and I appreciate you watching. Have a great day!

I spent another morning out on the Folly River searching for some big fish. I explored a ton of docks along the way but ended up back at my new sheepshead honey hole and it did not disappoint. I caught a few good fish on the Sheep Sticker jigs from Bellaire Jigs, but the bite completely stopped with slack tide. Once the tide flipped over I got on a really high quality bite and caught a bunch of big fish in a short amount of time. Bait of choice was halves of mud crabs fished on a light split shot rig.
I hadn't planned on keeping fish that day, but whenever I catch a keeper while fishing near somebody else I always ask if they're keeping. The people on this boat said they were hoping to keep a fish each so I broke out the stringer just in case and I'm glad I did!
Thank you all for watching and have a great day, remember to make some time for fishing!

I set out to fish the bridge again from my kayak for sheepshead with the game plan of doing a catch and cook. I got into some great numbers using both the slip float rig and the sheepsticker jig, but not a whole lot of size to start out. Thankfully I got a couple good keepers but I only had to keep one to make this amazing dinner. After the fishing stick around for my catch, clean, cook where I make the greatest fish tacos I've ever made!
For this recipe you need hard pretzels, flour, 2 eggs, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. You season the flour with the spices to your liking, toss the fish fillets in it, dip it in the egg, dredge it in the pretzel dust and fry it for about 3 minutes a side (or until done). I promise if you like fried fish you'll love this pretzel crusted fried fish even better! Then mix in whatever fixings you want and you've got yourself a delicious, home cooked meal!
Thanks for watching and remember to make some time for fishing! If you try out this recipe let me know how you like it!

I went and fished Breach Inlet around low tide once again but this time I left the cast net at home to force myself to stick to fishing lures. I started out fishing around the oyster bar where I usually found them, but after no action I switched it up and started skipping lures up under docks and man did I find them.
I caught a ton of lower slot redfish and flounder and lost a few heartbreaking fish. My setup was a white 1/4 oz Bellaire Jig swimbait jig paired up with a 5" paddlerZ swimbait from zman in sexy shad color. The fish just weren't hitting the natural colored baits so I switched it up with something obnoxious and bright and it was game on!
I really hope you all enjoyed the video and please let me know if there's any type of fishing you want me to try next! Thanks for watching!

Elise and I headed up to her parents house on Lake Norman in North Carolina for Thanksgiving a couple weeks back, and while we were there I got to do some of my favorite type of fishing in the world: catfishing. I like to switch things up from time to time and catfishing can be some of the laziest fishing you've ever done, just set it and forget it. We got in on Tuesday afternoon before Thanksgiving and the fish in this video were all caught within the first few hours of us arriving to the lake.
I caught 2 giants just after dark including my PB flathead which measured in at 36 inches! I'm sorry for how dark the video is at some points, I was wearing a head lamp but it's pretty narrow and doesn't provide that much light for my GoPro. Next time I fish at night I plan on setting up some lights in advance to make the video quality a little better.
Now while the video quality wasn't great, the quality of fish I caught this first night sure was. I hope you enjoy and please let me know what you think of this type of bank / dock catfishing and bank fishing in general just to mix up the types of videos I'm putting out.
Thank you all for watching and have a great day!
