"I wanted to share my story with you via email first so you have some idea of what has been going on.
I have been suffering from gasteroperesis, gastritis, and chronic diarrhea since 2011. In 2015 I did the HCG diet of 500 calories a day and continued my triathlon training. I lost 75 pounds in 8 months. Then I injured myself and could not exercise and stopped the restriction and within 1.5 years I had gained it all back. In 2018 I had a 6 in bowel blockage in my small intestine. I had to do 7 day water fast with colonoscopy prep twice. The second time they added magnesium citrate twice a day. I also had hyda scan, gastric emptying test, endoscopy, colonoscopy, stool sample, tons of blood tests, consults with general surgeons, 3 GI doctors, and to be honest I don't remember all of the things. But, in the end they diagnosed me with esophogitis (from vomiting every morning), gastritis, gasteroperesis and IBS. The general surgeon decided to not take my gall bladder even though it had sludge because of my chronic diarrhea. He said it would probably make me worse so I still have my gallbladder ( I am very appreciative of him). I started keto in March 2020 but was not strict. I would do well for a week and then eat carbs over the weekend. I took exogenous ketones and exercised daily but did not lose weight.
In November 2020, I had a thunderclap headache, seizure, migraine with stroke symptoms. I was diagnosed with brain swelling and was immediately put on triptans. I was unable to see a neurologist for 2 months and during that time I had lazer light show in my vision, flashing lights, seeing things that were not there, eye pain and pressure, dizziness, stuttering speech, brain fog, forgetfullness, hand tremors, stabbing pain in the eyes, ringing and full ears, couldn't read or write, crying/laughing made everything worse, lethargy, nausea, vomiting, daily headaches and migraines. I could not tolerate light, TV, phone, music, or any noise really. Finally, I got to see a neurologist in January of 21' and he started me on topiramate and told me that this was a progression of my migraines and this was just how it goes sometimes. At this point my vision was blurry, like I was looking through water all the time, my balance was off and I still needed help with ADLS. I spent 95% of my time in bed in a dark room with my eyes covered. I worked on counting steps because I was diagnosed with papaledema and was worried about going blind. Then a neurosurgeon reached out to me from John Hopkins (a colleague had sent him my records and images). He explained that he thought I had idiopathic intercranial hypertension and I should have a lumbar puncture to verify but if my neurologist was against that I should have a CTV. So I had the test and fortunately my veins and arteries were not collapsed. My neurologist denied me the lumbar puncture saying it is just a progression of migraine. After suffering for months and fighting to see another neurologist he finally agreed to the lumbar puncture. The results came back that I did have intercranial pressure. My choices were a stent and meds. I did not want brain surgery. I felt like there had to be other options. Thats when I started looking on youtube at everything about intercranial hypertension and found Ribeye Rach. She had just started her journey and was already seeing improvement. I figured I didn't have anything left to lose so I started carnivore the next day. I had a lumber puncture scheduled 2 weeks later and my pressure had normalized.
I have been a carnivore for 10 months with a few slips here and there. I have had a few episodes of locked in syndrome, but no thunderclap headaches and no painful migraines. I am off all triptans, weaning off the topirimate. I have cut my anti anxiety meds in half and I am no longer taking the 3 med for my gut issues. I am able to be in the sunlight without sunglasses (most of the time), I can listen and sing to music, I am able to work 3-4 hours on the computer without symptoms, I can exercise without headaches, the horizontal ridges in my fingernails are gone, my bowel movements are normal except of ADF but that will get better over time. I sleep through the night and do not wake up with any anxiety, nausea or vomiting. My head pressure only comes on if I don't intake enough salt. I have been able to quit caffeine since starting with SBG.
All the symptoms that are listed are gone for the most part.
